ебаут × GRMN

Dedication to previous generations.

Together with the ебаут show, we presented a new collaboration called "Language of Ancestors". The inspiration for the collection was the Ukrainian traditions and culture of our ancestors. Based on them, we created clothes that reflect modern Ukraine. Cultural heritage, which was handed down to us by previous generations, is encoded in things. For our ancestors, embroidered ornaments were a talisman. For us, they become a link between the past and the present.

We named our collection "Language of the Ancestors" because it uses images and symbols used by previous generations. And now we enter into a dialogue with them: we accept their legacy and prepare to pass this baton on.

The collection was created for the free, strong, and unrestrained in their desire to live. These things carry an indomitable will and a thirst for life despite everything.

The collaboration is united by three elements: linen, winding, and embroidery. Flax symbolizes girlish beauty crowned with a long braid. Motanka is a traditional talisman doll that protects its owner from misfortune. Embroidery is our oldest and dearest symbol that unites Ukrainians as a nation.

During the creation of the collection, we at ебаут researched Ukrainian embroidery and chose three main ornaments. The embroidery design was developed by Dasha Horyunova.

Infinity (wave, curve, meander). One of the oldest signs symbolizing eternity. It's the continuity of existence. In addition, infinity is a symbol of protection. It was believed that his image prevents evil, bad energy from entering the body.

Full face (or eight-pointed star). The symbol of the Creator, the Sun (the carol star is precisely octagonal). It is also a sign of the Mother of God, the so-called Star of the Mother: the eight-pointed star is depicted on icons of the Mother of God.

Tree of Life, World Tree. A symbol depicting the model of the universe, the division into the afterlife, earthly life, and the heavenly kingdom. Also, the tree is a symbol of the past, present, and future. It contains the idea of procreation and life. The Tree of Life was often embroidered on towels.

The capsule includes a linen embroidered shirt and linen embroidered dress shirt "Language of ancestors", a linen embroidered dress "Winged do not need soil", and linen shorts with a contrasting cord. The second part of the collection consisted of cotton t-shirts with the prints "winged birds don't need soil", "save Mariupol RIGHT NOW", "onion", "red is love", "mother sowed marigolds" and "she wore cherries". The author of the T-shirt prints was the illustrator Maryana Kyrychuk. The collection was completed by two accessories — a voluminous cotton bag with embroidery and a motanka doll and a pendant with a ceramic chicken on a cotton string.
